OUR STORY

Kogentix Enables Our
Customers To Unlock
The Value Of
Their Data

We founded Kogentix with one premise in mind. We knew that open source big data technologies (particularly the ever-evolving Hadoop stack) would play a critical role in transforming enterprises. That’s when we sat down and looked at the gaps in the industry. We filtered them down to three main issues.

CREATING BUSINESS VALUE

There is a lot of emphasis in the open source community on proliferating projects, and not enough on delivering solutions. Kogentix concentrates on the end result.

MANAGING SKILLS AND RESOURCE CONSTRAINTS

Big data requires interdisciplinary skills including expertise in new languages like Java and Scala, data science and statistics acumen, and experience with data architecture.

INTEGRATING WITH SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES

Unlike greenfield technology environments, large enterprises require that big data solutions integrate well not just with the existing data infrastructure, but also with business processes.

We believe that dramatic cost, scalability, and versatility advantages of open source big data would only become real with a business solution focus.
Our founders have been leaders in Hadoop since 2009, building enterprise solutions since the very beginning of the big data era:

  • Our CEO led Intel Corporation’s big data efforts and created a leadership position in China by addressing the needs of some of the largest enterprises in the world. He oversaw the massive investment into Cloudera that represented a major milestone in the maturation of the platform.
  • The founders each have decades of experience in data management, and have built open-source big data solutions for large enterprises. The founders spun out MetaScale from Sears and worked for industry leading provider Knightsbridge.
  • The same team formed XtremeInsights in 2011, serving several more enterprise accounts. Xtremeinsights was acquired by Intel corporation in 2013
